I know, I know, a shocking proclamation to make, right? In this, the Digital Age, where all things are convenient and literally within hand’s reach (hello, handy dandy iPhone!), why do we really need desk or wall calendars? Well, truthfully, I put some thought into this. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I do enjoy my dry erase board calendar at home. It’s nice to be able to just look up without scrolling through countless apps to find a date on my calendar (and that’s if I don’t get distracted by Twitter in the process) to see when bills are due, birthdays are taking place, or when that term paper deadline is creeping up. Consider this: How many times have you been on your mobile phone arranging plans, and suddenly you’re not sure if you’ve already got something scheduled that night? Now you have to put your friend on speakerphone and, in a hostage negotiation-like situation, and carefully pan through your screen trying to find your calendar while not hanging up on them!
Okay, so it’s probably not that bad, but it’s still an annoyance. But let’s face it. In this age of ever-changing technology, the printed calendar is still here. Among survey recipients, 82% revealed they enjoyed receiving calendars as complimentary gifts, whereas 74% of recipients remember the name of the company that gave them a calendar.
In many ways all of this technology has helped the calendar’s evolution. For years the industry has been stagnant; printed wall calendars were the only game in town when it came to keeping a good record of the date and events. However, here’s a fun tip: the calendar ordering cycle is not like other promotional items. An order of mugs could take a company two years to go through, and order of scratch pads maybe three years. After one year a calendar becomes more or less obsolete no matter how many of those fun little squares you’ve filled up! But come what may, it’s a new year, and you need a new calendar to stay informed and organized. The funny thing is, the calendar, whether paper or digital, still hasn’t changed that much, but we can certainly make them stylish and appealing to any industry!
There is the ever so classic wall calendar if you enjoy the span-the-year, conquering-one-day-at-a-time sort of feeling. If you’re more the motivational calendar type, we have those too! Dog person? Cat person? We have a calendar for that! (Think of it as an app, whatever it is, there’s one for it.) Want a small mailer piece to send to your customers at a low quantity? The Press-N-Stick calendar is perfect! Lightweight and small enough to fit in a regular envelope, it’s a great way to make sure you remain on their fridge, office wall, or anywhere else for easy access to your place of business contact information.
I could go on all day about this. (No, seriously, I could. In fact by the time I’m done you would need a new calendar.) But I won’t. Check out the options listed here, or give us a call at 888-253-5800 to get started on stocking (or re-stocking) your calendar supply today!

We did it! (Again!) We’d like to take this moment to thank our family, our friends, the academy…
Seriously though, what an honor! We’re happy to be able to take this time to share this with you. But enough about us! Actually, just kidding, a little bit more about us, and what this means!
This rank is given to those companies whose employees stated in surveys that they feel respected, involved, engaged and enjoy coming to work on a daily basis. Ninety companies out of the tens of thousands within the industry were ranked and we landed at number 66!
We take pride here in our work at Show Your Logo, and we owe a big thanks to you, our customers, for giving us the opportunity to serve you as you are part of what makes our jobs so much fun! We hope to keep bringing you the same level of happiness with your promotional products that we feel coming into the office each and every day!

Mom delivering her retirement speech after twenty-four years as an incredible second-grade teacher.
After twenty-four years of teaching, my mom is hanging it up in just three short weeks. I was fortunate to be able to attend her district-sponsored retirement dinner last night and bear witness to the the beginning of closure on this chapter of her life. It felt momentous, and I’m not even the one retiring.
Retirement a big dead end? A period of napping before imminent death? Not so much. These retiring teachers, my mom included, are planning some envy-inspiring trips across the country and across the ocean. The school district gifted my mom with a lovely custom printed watch, similar to this one, only hers benefitted from the addition of some sparkly rhinestones. The inscription on the back thanked her for her years of service.
Considering how much the recently retireds and the soon-to-be retireds are planning on jet-setting around the globe in the upcoming months and years, my mind couldn’t help but to wander to other appropriate promotional gifts these amazing people could use.
Custom Printed iPad Cases with Bluetooth Keyboard
An iPad is an easy way to stay connected with the world, family, and friends while on the go. These customized iPad cases allow those iPads to become super portable laptops with the addition of a Bluetooth keyboard. Want to really wow your retiring teachers? Print up these cases to give to them along with their very own iPad.
Print Digital Photo Frames
All of the lovely ladies retiring last night bragged on their grandchildren. Photos were being flashed left and right. These digital photo frames keep a mountain’s worth of photos in one convenient location, easy to transport from hotel room to cottage on the beach to European villa.
Custom Travel Adapters
With so many devices to charge in the modern world (not to mention hair dryers), no one wants to be faced with an electrical plug that won’t fit in the outlet. This handy kit takes care of that problem.
Checkpoint Friendly Travel Bags
This high quality, durable bag provides easy access to devices that need to be removed during security checks at the airport. Anyone who’s ever experienced the joy of removing their shoes and laptop and shuffling through the irritating, long line in socks knows the importance of a bag that’s easy to work with. This bag will do the trick.
Print Portable Chargers
Do you think those retirees will need to charge their devices on the go? I do. These portable chargers are a great way to get that objective accomplished.
Looking for some inspirational quotes about teachers to print on your promotional products? Check out this post for a list of 35 succinct quotes we like.
My mom concluded her own amazing speech last night with a longer quote. It may not fit on a promotional product, but it’s worth sharing nevertheless.
“I’ve come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It’s my personal approach that creates the climate. It’s my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child’s life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instruction of inspiration. I can humiliate or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated of de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized.” ~Haim G. Ginott
Thanks, Mom, for twenty-four years of hard work and dedication to your students. Those kids hit the jackpot when they landed you as their second grade teacher. I hit the jackpot when I was born your daughter. I may be celebrating my fortieth birthday next month, but I continue to learn and strive to be a better person thanks to your example. You’ll always be my teacher!

National Nurses’ Week is May 6-12 this year. Shopping for promotional products to give as gifts to show your appreciation? Check out yesterday’s post for some affordable gift giving ideas, all of which can be customized to your needs. In addition to your company, hospital, or organization’s name and logo, you may wish to include a motivational, inspirational quote about nursing.
Here are fifteen possibilities to choose from:
1) “Save one life, you’re a hero. Save 100 lives, you’re a nurse.”
2) “I feel so energized by that 12 hour shift,” said No One Ever.
3) “Nursing is the gentle art of caring.”
4) “Doctors diagnose. Nurses cure.”
5) “Don’t mess with nurses. We get paid to stab people with sharp objects.”
6) “They may forget your name, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel.” ! ~Maya Angelou
7) “The best way to find yourself is the lose yourself in the service of others.” `Gandhi
8) “Nurses may not be angels but they’re the next best thing.”
9) “It is not how much you do but how much love you put in the doing.” ~ Mother Theresa
10) “If love can’t cure it, nurses can.”
11) “Constant attention by a good nurse may be just as important as a major operation by a surgeon.” ~Dag Hammarskjold
12) “I attribute my success to this – I never gave or took any excuse.” ~Florence Nightingale
13) “Bound by paperwork, short on hands, sleep, and energy… nurses are rarely short on caring.” ~ Sharon Hudacek
14) “It would not be possible to praise nurses too highly.” ~ Stephen Ambrose
15) “Nurses: one of the few blessings of being ill.” ~ Sara Moss-Wolfe
If you happen to be a nurse, here’s a business promotion I spied in a magazine this week: Cinnabon is giving away a free dessert to nurses who stop by with their work ID’s during National Nurses’ Week. Sweet!

Triplets = NICU time. We loved our NICU nurses at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL.
My experience with nurses was cursory at best until I gave birth to triplets. The boys, born at 33 weeks instead of your typical 37 – 40 weeks, required some Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) time. Being preemies, those boys of mine had some issues regulating their body temperatures and remembering to breathe. Learning to eat and breathe in tandem was also a big deal. The nurses there patiently got us through it all.
One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life was walk away from my four-day-old babies after I was discharged from the hospital…and they had to stay behind. I had to entrust their well-being and their lives to the nurses in the Edward Hospital NICU.
Our boys were so much work in those early days that one entire NICU nurse was assigned to their care. After walking away a few times and coming back a few times more, it became easier to let the nurses do their amazing work. I was always so grateful they were there with their expertise when a bottle feeding turned into a choking session or an alarm sounded indicating someone forgot to take his next breath. Those nurses were always there, calm and collected in the face of my panic and one of my suddenly-blue-lipped babies. The experience gave me new-found respect for a tough job that involves juggling babies’ needs, parental anxiety, doctors’ orders, and what seemed like lots of paper work and studying.
Nurses everywhere, in all departments, deserve our appreciation. If showing appreciation for nurses is on your agenda for National Nurses’ Week this year, we’ve compiled a list of promotional products you may find appropriate for your gift-giving and branding needs.
Stethoscope Name Tags
A nurse and his or her stethoscope never seem to be apart. Order these affordable stethoscope name tags as part of your nurses’ gift package. One side of the tag displays your imprint. The other side has a write-on surface where nurses can write their names or a personal message to their patients. Nurses always seem to have a positive message to share!
Custom Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer can’t replace the serious, surgical level of scrubbing everyone must participate in before entering the NICU, but killing germs and staying well is certainly on every nurse’s agenda. These handy little bottles of hand sanitizer are great for travel, purses, and desk drawers.
Carmel Stainless Travel Tumblers
Nurses put in some long hours. Long hours require some serious caffeine, and these tumblers are the perfect caffeine delivery system. Imprint your logo or your personal message to show your appreciation.
Custom Camelbak Bottles
Caffeine comes in many forms. Diet Coke anyone? Of course, there are probably plenty of nurses out there who elect to drink a healthy dose of water. These custom bottles are durable and well known for their superior quality. No matter how your nurses are staying hydrated, these are perfect for sipping those cold drinks.
Printed Duffel Bags
Nurses have lots of gear to carry to and from the hospital or the office. These duffel bags will help them organize and lug it all. Comfy shoes? Check. Medical books? Check. Room to spare? Check.
Custom Printed Hoodies
Have you ever noticed that hospitals and doctors’ offices suffer from erratic temperatures? I’m usually freezing or melting whether I’m a patient or not. Give nurses the gift of branded, zippered hoodies. The layering effect helps them regulate their own temperatures both on and off the job.
Custom Lunch Totes
The hospital cafeteria was never high on my list of favorite places to eat. Print these insulated lunch totes for the nurses you appreciate. A lunch packed at home can be a healthy, affordable alternative to the cafeteria or fast food.
Don’t forget to personally thank your favorite nurses. Kind words go a long way in this world, and so does the care all those nurses provide. Today those preemies in the picture at the top of this post are happy, healthy nine-year-olds. I have a team of nurses to thank for that.
